Abu Dhabi December, 28, 09:  The Tamil Ladies Circle celebrated their annual program in a grand manner.  It was indeed a total cultural event having complete entertainment for the crowd of over a thousand who attended the show from all over U.A.E. The event began with a prayer and lighting of the lamp by Tamil Ladies Committee members along with prominent artists/folk dancers from India Dr. Navneeth Krishnan and Dr. Vijaylaxmi.

The welcome address was followed by felicitation of prominent personalities of U.A.E. namely Dr. B.R. Shetty, MD NMC Group, Mr. Sarvotham Shetty, President Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi, Mr. G. Radhakrishanan, Power Economy, Abu Dhabi.

The first part of the entertainment show was a beautiful classical dance-ballet called Nindita Naayika: Kaikeyi (The defamed Heroine).  “Is there anyone born evil or is there a greater good in their actions?” Well, the drama and story of Kaikeyi explained it all.  Over the years many plays have narrated the story of the Ramayana showing the wickedness and manipulation of Kaikeyi.  But the synchronizing dance ballet explored the story of Kaikey in a totally different perspective and showed positive side of her actions that was instrumental for the Ramayana as we see it.

The Nindita Naayika - Kaikeyi a classical dance ballet was choreographed in Bharatnatyam style by Shrimati Meera Srikanh (whose inspiration has been her paternal uncle, The doyen of Tamil Stage, Late Shri R.S. Manohar). The show was based on an in-depth research by renowned professors.  The composition has been written in simple and beautiful Tamil which made easy to understand and was dramatized and choreographed using over 60 raagas which made the musical extravaganza a best musical treat ever enjoyed by Tamil Community of U.A.E.  The entire story was narrated using the personification of Time, the all-seeing, who proceeds to explain the meaning behind Kaikeyi’s actions.

The final scene was splendid where Lord Rama returns to Ayodhya after his exile and the scene begins with grand procession culminating in his coronation as the King.  It also finally clears any negative aspects or feelings about Kaikeyi and Rama accepts her as his favourite mother and all is forgiven and forgotten and her sacrifice sending her son to Vanawaas for fourteen years for the greater good and glory of humanity was justified.

The dance ballet was produced by Mr. Srikanth and conceptualized by Mrs. Bindhu Unny. Lyrics, Music direction and script was by Shri Venkatasubramanian, Vocals by Shri Venugopal. Mr. Ravi Kumar provided the narration in both English and Tamil while Mrs. Rekha introduced the program.  This dance ballet was a tribute to the late doyen of South Indian stage dramas Mr. R. S. Manohar who specialized in bringing out the good side of popularly despised characters from history and mythology.

The second part of the program consisted of various folk dance presentations directed and choreographed by prominent and well-known Tamil Folk Dancers: Dr. Navneeth Krishnan & Dr. Vijaylaxmi.  All the dances were based on traditional themes and presented by various children of ISC and many groups from Abu Dhabi.  Finally all the main artists were felicitated for their dedication and countless efforts in bringing these two great memorable episodes to the Tamil Community of U.A.E. by Tamil Ladies Circle, Abu Dhabi.

Over all it was a great-grand show especially Ramayana Characters exhibited by various artists, children, dancers, that included superb choreography, concepts, dances, arts, etc were very well played, presented by artists was well appreciated and applauded by the audience and thoroughly enjoyed by one and all.
